Preschool Teacher Finds Hanging Victim At Cerritos Church

CERRITOS, CA — A person was found hanged, dead of an apparent suicide, Tuesday morning at a church in Cerritos where children were attending preschool.

The body was found about 11:35 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church at 13633 183rd St., according to the watch commander at the sheriff's Cerritos Station.

The decedent was an adult, but the watch commander had no other details about the person, who was pronounced dead by county fire firefighters.

One news report indicated it was a man who was found by a teacher at a preschool located at the church.

The body was found behind the church, according to a fire department dispatch supervisor.

The watch commander said the preschool was open, but no children saw the body.

Homicide detectives responded to the location and the coroner's office took custody of the body, according to the sheriff's department.
