Santa Monica Art Gallery Features Artwork of Whitney High Teacher

The gallery at the Art Institute of California — Los Angeles will be on display until April 30.

Artwork by art teachers and educators at several area high schools, including 's Debra A. Price Agrums Sposa, are currently on display in a Santa Monica gallery show titled “What Those Who Teach Can Do.”

“We’re honoring what educators in our community do by hosting their work in our gallery,” said Ryan Ball, president of The Art Institute of California — Los Angeles. “Teachers work tirelessly to cultivate the skills of our area’s high school students. The show is our way to shine a light on the talents they use every day to inspire.”

The display at The Art Institute of California - L.A. celebrates the talents of these local educators by featuring their artwork, including but not limited to paintings, mixed media, sculptures, ceramics, video, design, digital media, film, photography, illustration, fiber, and/or fiber arts.

One of the works on display is a piece made of mosaic glass, recycled beads and charms titled "The Long & Winding Road" created by the Whitney High educator.

"I try to create art that will impact my students in such a way as to inspire dimensional thought through the use of vivid color, playful patterns and recycled materials," said Price Agrums Sposa.

The gallery will be on display at 2900 31st Street in Santa Monica until April 30. As part of this celebration, the public and family, friends and students of the artists are invited to attend a special April 25th reception at the gallery from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. -- at no charge. Besides the works from teachers at Whitney High, the display also features artwork from educators at Bassett High School (La Puente), Beverly Hills High School (Beverly Hills), Daily High School (Glendale), El Camino High School (Whittier),  Fairfax High School (Los Angeles), John Marshall High School (Los Angeles), King-Drew High School (Los Angeles), Nogales High School (La Puente), and El Monte Union High School District.
