Robbery Suspect Flees From Police, Arrested
Suspect Kenneth Sanders was taken into custody thanks to a Citrus Height Police K9.
Citrus Heights Police K9 helped catch a robbery suspect after he fled from police Friday night.
At 7:52 p.m. Sept. 14, a Citrus Heights Police Officer entered a business in the 7000 block of Auburn Boulevard, when an adult male quickly exited; employees informed the officer that the suspect had just robbed the business. The suspect, 28-year-old Kenneth Sanders, simulated a weapon to employees and took an undetermined amount of cash, according to a news release.
The officer left the business, saw the suspect get into a Jeep Sport Utility Vehicle and flee the scene, according to police. Other Citrus Heights Police Officers and Citrus Heights Police K9 were radioed in and they located the suspect driving near Mariposa and Highland avenues.

The suspect refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. When the suspect reached Mariposa Avenue and Prince Street, he stopped his vehicle and fled on foot. Officers caught the suspect, but he resisted officers; the police K9 was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he recieved medical treatment for the injuries he sustained to his leg from the K9 apprehension.

Police recovered the stolen money from the suspect's vehicle and found additional stolen money from the areas where the suspect ran from officers. Police were unable to locate a weapon.
Sanders was transported to Sacramento County Jail where he was booked for robbery, evading police and resisting arrest.
