Roseville Pedestrian Struck, Killed

The man was walking on Industrial Avenue in Lincoln just after 10 p.m. March 14 when he was struck and killed.

A 33-year-old man from Roseville was killed Thursday night, March 14, after he was struck by a car while walking on Industrial Avenue in Lincoln. 

At 10:12 p.m. March 14, a 20-year-old female driver from Citrus Heights was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Industrial Avenue, south of Athens Avenue in Lincoln, when she struck Candido Perez Jr. while he was walking, the California Highway Patrol reports. 

Perez was walking in the southbound lane of Industrial Avenue with his back to traffic. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid him, but struck Perez, causing fatal injuries. According to the CHP, Perez was pronounced dead at the scene by a Cal Fire Paramedic.

The driver did not sustain injuries and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the CHP. 

CHP is unsure why Perez was walking in the street. A toxicology report from the Placer County Coroner's Office will determine if Perez was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
