In 2010, the World Health Organization launched a global network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.

January 5, 2022

Sacramento County is committed to creating an age-friendly community in which we can all live and grow older. If you’d like to give feedback on how to make this happen, Age-Friendly Sacramento County invites you to take the Age-Friendly Sacramento County Survey. The survey will be open until Feb. 28. Sacramento County will use the results to prioritize the needs of current and future older residents.

In 2010, the World Health Organization launched a global network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities. Five hundred and eighty-three states and communities across the nation are members of the Age-Friendly Network of States and Communities. Sacramento County joined the network in February 2021. The state of California joined in June 2021.

After the survey and listening sessions are completed, the next step is a Community Action Plan that will develop strategies addressing the top needs. After approval from the Board of Supervisors, the Action Plan will be implemented within three to five years.
