Suspicious Device on Greenback Lane Was Actually a Briefcase
All lanes have reopened to traffic.

UPDATE: "Sacramento Sheriff’s Department EOD completed their investigation and determined the suspicious package was a briefcase containing someone’s personal property. The briefcase was collected as found property.
All directions of Greenback Lane are currently open to traffic."
ORIGINAL STORY: Greenback Lane has been shut down in both directions due to a report of a suspicious device. The Citrus Heights Police Department has been on the scene since before 10:30 a.m.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to the scene.
"Buildings nearby are being evacuated," tweeted Roseville Scanner. "Additional resources are being called in for traffic control near the scene. Closures being put in place on Greenback Ln at Mariposa Ave and presumably San Juan Ave."

"There has been no specific threats made in regards to this package," according to the Citrus Heights Police Department. "This incident is currently under investigation."
There is no expected time for the roadways to be opened, police say. They will "update this incident as events change."
