Man Struck, Killed Friday While Out of Vehicle on Foothill Freeway

CHP officers said the victim, Jose Alfredo Gomez of Rancho Cucamonga, was a pedestrian in the slow lane at the time of the accident.

A man who was struck and killed Friday on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Claremont was identified Saturday by the California Highway Patrol as 35-year-old Jose Alfredo Gomez.

Gomez, of Rancho Cucamonga, was hit in the westbound slow lane of the freeway at 11:35 p.m. Friday by a 2008 Toyota that officers said was traveling at 70 to 75 mph.

Sgt. Mike Maehr identified the driver of the vehicle as Ramesh Tinnanooru, 35, of Stevenson Ranch. Another CHP Officer, Alex Rubio, said Tinnanooru was currently not facing charges.

Maehr said Gomez was a pedestrian in the slow lane for unknown reasons. A 2000 Camry belonging to Gomez was found parked on the right shoulder of the eastbound lanes of the freeway, about a quarter mile away, Maehr said.

Westbound lanes of the freeway were closed for an hour after the collision, Maehr said.
