Woman Allegedly Pistol-Whipped By Ex-Boyfriend In La Verne
The woman told La Verne police her ex-boyfriend struck her in the nose with a handgun after the two had been arguing, officials said.

LA VERNE, CA — A 29-year-old man was arrested by the La Verne Police Department early Saturday morning after allegedly striking the mother of his child with the handle of a semi-automatic handgun, authorities said.
Ricky Vaughns Jr., 29, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm while on probation for a previous domestic violence conviction. He allegedly struck his ex-girlfriend across the bridge of her nose with the gun, police said.
Vaughns Jr. is being held on $200,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Police arrived at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Blossom Lane around 3:50 a.m., Saturday, after a woman called 911. She told officers that she got into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Vaughns Jr., who eventually hit her, police said.
Vaughns Jr. fled inside the apartment after officers attempted to talk to him, police said. A SWAT team and crisis negotiators were eventually called to the area, and Vaughns Jr. eventually surrendered to police.

Officers recovered a handgun with multiple magazines from the apartment, La Verne police said. The woman was treated for her injury by paramedics with the La Verne Fire Department.
