City Of Concord Announces Recruitment For Board Of Appeals
Appointees don't need to be Concord residents but must be qualified in and have knowledge of the city's construction codes.

CONCORD, CA β The Concord City Council at its meeting Tuesday announced a recruitment for the Board of Appeals to fill five positions for four-year terms ending Feb. 28, 2027, and two alternate positions for four-year terms ending Feb. 28, 2027.
The City Council also set a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, June 23, for submitting applications to the city clerk.
The Board of Appeals consists of five members and two alternates serving four-year terms. The board is required by California state law and meets as needed to interpret state law and the California Building Standards Code pertaining to construction standards for the city.

Meetings are held on an infrequent basis. The members make a determination of suitable alternate materials and methods of construction and hear appeals of orders, decisions and determinations made by the Cityβs Chief Building Official. Decisions of the Board are final and may not be appealed to the City Council.
The board consists of members who are qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to the City of Concord Construction Code and are not employees of the city.

Appointees must be qualified in and specifically knowledgeable in the City of Concord Construction Code and applicable local ordinances. Appointees do not need to be residents of the City of Concord.
The City's Conflict of Interest Code requires members to disclose interests in investments, real property, and income derived within the City of Concord or from sources doing business within the City of Concord. Filings are required within 30 days of assuming office and on an annual basis.
