Coronado police are called in after deputies find the plants at a home on Eighth Street.

Sheriff’s deputies arresting a Coronado man at his home Friday for probation violations found 22 marijuana plants growing on his back porch, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies conducting a warrant sweep went to the home of James Gordon Duff on the 600 block of Eighth Street to arrest him for violating the conditions of his probation for DUI. As he was being taken into custody, a deputy found the marijuana plants on the back porch, according to the department.

Coronado police officers arrived and served a search warrant on the home and seized the plants, according to the Sheriff’s Department. They found more plants in the garage, and authorities estimated the street value of the marijuana at $35,000.
