Enjoy An Extra Hour Sunday As Daylight Saving Time Ends

It's time to set all of your clocks back one hour because daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Daylight saving time ends in the United StatesΒ on Sunday, Nov. 3, atΒ 2 a.m. local time.

Set yourΒ clock back one hour, following the adage of β€œspring forward, fall back.” The extra hour gives you a chance to catch up on the sleep you lost in March when the clocks moved forward and daylight saving time began.

In an effort to save resources during World War II, the U.S. made daylight saving time mandatory for the whole country. And it was observed the entire year.

Now it's optional for states, but onlyΒ Arizona and HawaiiΒ do notΒ observe it. Because of Hawaii's tropical latitude, sunrise and sunset do not vary much.Β Indiana used to ignore daylight saving timeΒ but now observes it.Β

Some studies have shown that extending daylight saving time results in a reduction in energy consumption; other studies suggest just the opposite. Β  Β  Β Β
