A Week for Optimists: Join the Sports Fiesta

There's still time to join the Optimist Club of Coronado's 42nd Annual Sports Fiesta to take place Saturday and Sunday. Comprising three separate events that start in finish in Sunset Park, athletes will run, ride and swim for the two-day festival.

For the club's good deeds and support of youth sports and various local organizations, last month Mayor Casey Tanaka declared July 22-28 Optimist Coronado Sports Fiesta Week.

Money raised at the event will go to support youth groups in Coronado.

10K Run

Price: $25/$30 day of event

Run through Naval Air Station North Island starts Saturday at 7 a.m. Day of race registration until 6:45 a.m. 

One-Mile Rough Water Swim

Price: $25/$30 day of event

Swim around three buoys off North Beach starts at 11 a.m. Day of race registration until 10 a.m.

Triathlon

Price: $25/$30 day of event

Triathlon starts Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Day of race registration until 7:15 a.m. Run and swim portions off North Beach. Bike portion at Naval Air Station North Island.
