Afternoon Thunderstorms Possible In Cupertino: NWS
Although the rains calmed down Monday morning, the National Weather Service says thunderstorms are possible south of Silicon Valley.
CUPERTINO, CA — Thunderstorms are possible in Cupertino Monday afternoon., the National Weather Service reported. The NWS also says that there is a 20-30% chance of Monday afternoon thunderstorms south of San Jose, and in the coastal waters.
Cupertino is partly cloudy with winds of about 3 mph as of Monday at 12:30 p.m., according to the NWS. However, there is an 80% chance that rain will continue throughout the rest of the day. As of 11 a.m. Monday, San Jose has seen a 24-hour rain total of 0.19 inches, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, but totals in the mountains are much higher: Loma Prieta recorded 1.30 inches, and Corralitos reported 1.06.
While the weather is relatively calm in Cupertino, flash flood watches are continuing through Monday evening at the Colorado and Dolan burn scars near Big Sur due to the potential of heavy rain. In January, the Colorado Fire burned nearly 700 acres in the area.

In Cupertino, thunderstorms and rain are likely through the evening, NWS said. Tuesday is expected to be partly sunny with highs near 65. There remains an 80% chance of precipitation throughout the rest of Monday.
