CACCC Hosts Compassion in Action: Embracing Caregiving with Human-Centered AI

20-year celebration educational fundraiser includes series of in-person and virtual educational sessions from August 9-21, 2025

July 21, 2025 – Cupertino CA – The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) hosts Compassion in Action: Embracing Caregiving with Human-Centered AI, an educational fundraiser, honoring and celebrating the past 20 years of service and looking forward to embracing the future of caregiving with human-centered AI at the Milpitas Community Center on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 2:00 - 5:00 PDT. Keynote speaker, physician-scientist Jonathan H. Chen, MD, PhD, an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research, will present AI in Medicine: Integrated Intelligence or Illusory Imitation? and share his insights on how to empower caregiving by combining human and artificial intelligence approaches to deliver better patient care.
Keynote speaker, caregiver and cancer survivor Peggy Sheng, former Chief Operating Officer of Coalition of Asian-American IPA (CAIPA), will present One Day at a Time, and share her 9/11 exposure experience and her caregiver and cancer journey.

Additionally, from August 10-21, CACCC will host a series of in-person and virtual educational sessions in Mandarin: Caregiver Panel Discussion; Spiritual Talk; Suicide Prevention; Flower Arranging for Stress Reduction ($20 materials fee); Mindful Self-Care; AI in Healthcare Topic featuring Dr. Jonathan Chen; Poetic Medicine for Grief, and conducted virtually in English, the Professional Healthcare Forum.

Kaiser Permanente’s hospice and palliative care internist Esther Luo, MD, is the keynote speaker for the virtual Professional Healthcare Forum on Friday, August 15 from 1-3pm. Dr. Luo will present Caring Through the Continuum: Integrating Palliative Principles in Stroke Care for Chinese American Patients and share her insights and perspectives on how healthcare providers communicate with stroke caregivers across the continuum of care. Participants will also hear from a panel of speakers that includes a nurse practitioner and social worker Mindy Wen, NP, MSW of Alameda Hospital and UCSF Medical Center; a family caregiver and volunteer Tenny Tsai, and a chaplain Ven. Zhiyun Cai, PhD, BCC-PCHAC of Stanford Health Care. The panel will join Dr. Luo during the Q&A session of the program, facilitated by CACCC Co-Chair, geriatrician Emiley Chang, MD, MPH of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
