September 9, 2025 – Cupertino CA – The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) receives $10,000 grant from the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group Community Health Care Endowment Fund. The funds will go towards developing CACCC’s new Suicide Prevention Program (SPP) benefiting the Chinese American Community of older adults, family caregivers, caregivers, multigenerational families, individuals, ages 18-44 years and older, as well as individuals and families living with serious illness, residing in Santa Clara County and in the service areas of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.

Per the CDC, suicide is preventable and is a serious public health problem that has long-lasting effects on individuals, families, and communities. Preventing suicide requires strategies at all levels of society. This includes prevention and protective strategies for individuals, families, and communities. Everyone can help prevent suicide by learning the warning signs, promoting prevention and resilience, and committing to social change.

“CACCC is committed to being an agent of social change,” said CACCC founder Sandy Chen Stokes. “The impact of saving a life to suicide, a public safety, is immeasurable.” Stokes continued, “Trainings, conducted in Chinese, are provided at no charge to participants and the SPP will complement CACCC’s other core community life and mental health and wellness programs.”
