Cupertino Moves Forward With Electric Tech
The city adds two more electric vehicle charging stations, giving more options for electric car owners.
Cupertino city officials celebrated the activation of two more electric vehicle charging stations at the Cupertino Library this week.
According to Plugshare, an EV charging station website locator, the Cupertino City Hall area now hosts 10 spots for electric car plugin.
The stations were shown off at the library by Mayor Barry Chang with representatives from public and private companies and agencies in attendance.

“Demand on the existing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in our city has increased steadily,” Chang said in a statement. “Expanding access and availability to charging stations will create more sustainable opportunities and alternatives.”
ABM installed and is maintaining the stations, which use ChargePoint Level 2 chargers, city officials said.

The Bay Area Climate Collaborative is heading the project in an effort to lead the region toward clean energy and energy efficiency. “Reaching our regional goals of 100,000 EVs on the road by 2020 will result in over $100 million going into the local economy that would otherwise go out of the region and state for petroleum,” BACC executive director Rafael Reyes said.
