Hiker Killed In Cupertino ID'd By Coroner
The hiker was killed by a falling tree on Sunday.
CUPERTINO, CA — A hiker killed by a fallen tree in a Cupertino park on Sunday was identified as Vidyut Nautiyal, 44, of San Jose, according to a spokesperson for the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office.
Nautiyal was hiking in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve when she was struck by the falling tree on the Stephen E. Abbors Trail.
Santa Clara County firefighters and park personnel made their way to the site after receiving the emergency call at 10:01 a.m. and found bystanders attempting to render aid, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

Emergency aid was rendered, but Nautiyal was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District released a statement calling the death the first of its kind in the district's 50-year history.
