Hit-And-Run On I-280 Leaves Man Dead: CHP
According to the CHP, the man had gotten out of his car after a crash north of McLaughlin Avenue.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — A man who got out of his vehicle after a crash on Interstate Highway 280 in San Jose was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver Monday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol. The initial collision was reported at about 7:05 p.m. on southbound Highway 280 north of McLaughlin Avenue.
A white Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a woman was heading south on the highway when a green Honda sedan struck the right rear side of the truck, CHP officials said.
The Honda then traveled out of control and hit a tan Toyota sedan driven by a man with three children in the backseat, according to the CHP.

The man driving the Honda then got out of it and was struck by another vehicle traveling south. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the vehicle that hit him did not stop after the collision, CHP officials said.
The Chevrolet driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution, while the Toyota driver was also hospitalized with minor facial injuries. The three children were not injured and were taken home to their mother by a CHP officer.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office is not releasing the name of the man who died until his family is notified of the death.
