McClellan Bike Lane Work Kicked Off In Cupertino
After last month's prep work, the long-anticipated McClellan bike lane job has started with its first leg between Imperial and Stelling.

CUPERTINO, CA — After a long anticipated journey, the city of Cupertino started to work on the McClellan Road bike lanes in a joint effort to make cycling safer on a critical thoroughfare for riding traffic traveling to and from school and home.
In a ceremony Monday, city representatives were joined by those with the Cupertino and Fremont union high school districts, and Santa Clara County Sheriff's at Lincoln Elementary School to kick off the McClellan Road Separated Bike Lanes Project.
The city’s first leg of this new network of separated bike lanes is on the stretch from Imperial Avenue to Stelling Road. This project is intended to improve biking conditions to Lincoln, Monta Vista, and Kennedy schools. Cupertino’s separated bike lanes will physically separate cyclists from motor vehicles using posts and curbs, which authorities contend is much needed in the wake of at least one huge tragedy involving a student cycling on the road along with other near misses.
