Old Vallco Mall Demolished Making Way For Development

The former shopping center was razed upon Sand Hill Property secured permits from the city of Cupertino.

CUPERTINO, CA -- And the walls came tumbling down -- marking an end to a former shopping center left vacant that saw its heyday a half century ago.

The demolition of the outdoor parking structures makes way for a project located a mile south of the Apple campus off Steven's Creek Boulevard near Interstate 280 that offers up to 3,000 housing units and 2 million square feet of office and commercial space.

Details such as the percentage of affordable housing units are still be negotiated between the city and the developer.
