Santa Clara County Deputy Riding Bike 300 Miles To Honor Comrades

A Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputy's 300-mile bike ride will raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Museum.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A Sheriff's deputy has embarked on a journey to help honor fallen law enforcement comrades, as well as raise funds for a good cause.

Earlier this week, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Deputy Frederick embarked on the first leg of a 300 mile bike ride as part of the Police Unity Tour. Riders from agencies across the country gathered in New Jersey on May 9 where they will ride to Washington D.C. in honor officers who died in the line of duty.

Riders are expected to arrive in Washington, DC on May 12. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for May 13 on the National Mall.

In addition to bringing awareness to Law Enforcement Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, participants raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial Museum.

After staring in 1997 with 18 people, the event has grown to consist of nearly 2,500 members who make the trip annually. Deputy Frederick is part of Police Unity Tour Northern California Chapter XIII.
