Santa Clara Police and the bomb squad responded to the Central Park Library to check out a suspicious device.

SANTA CLARA, CA — The Central Park Library in Santa Clara was evacuated while police responded to a suspicious device Tuesday afternoon, the police department reported. The scene has since cleared.
An employee at the library on the 2600 block of Homestead Road located the suspicious-looking item inside a loading and receiving area and called it in at about 1:20 p.m. to the authorities as a precaution.
When officers arrived, they evacuated the employees in that area then expanding the zone to the library patrons, police Sgt. Todd Cummins told Patch.
