She spoke with a New York accent and officials think she may have been born there, but was known to be homeless and for years lived in the area where she was stabbed to death on Aug. 13 in front of the Walgreen store at 1399 W. San Carlos St. in San Jose.

Police and officials at Valley Medical Center say Gail gave them the last name Hayden, but the coroner’s office has not been able to confirm that. She did not have a driver’s license, identification or record with the police.

If anyone knows Gail’s last name or has any information that can lead to her identification please contact the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office at 408-793-1900.
