CA Lawmaker Proposes Three Paid Days Off For Parents

The proposed bill would allow parents of students Kindergarden through eighth grade paid time off for school involvement activities.

SACRAMENTO, CA- A California assemblyman wants to give parents more paid time off to allow them to be more involved in school trips and activities.

Assemblyman Mike Gatto proposed legislation that will allow parents of elementary and middle school aged children three additional paid days off per year.

Current California law gives employees up to 40 hours of unpaid leave in order to be involved in school activities under the “Family-School and Partnership Act” of 1995, however this bill would amend the act to require companies to pay.
