City Of Davis' Annual César Chávez Celebration Set For April 1
The City of Davis' 17th annual Davis César Chávez Celebration is scheduled for 10 am to 1 pm Saturday, April 1 in Central Park.

DAVIS, CA -- The 17th annual Davis César Chávez Celebration is planned to be held during the Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1 in Central Park, located at 401 C Street.
The free event is sponsored by the City of Davis Human Relations Commission. Community members of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend.
“We are especially proud to host a community gathering to recognize Cesar Chavez in this location, where he held rallies during the tomato grower’s strikes in the 1970s and to affirm the importance of social justice culture in our community,” Mayor Robb Davis said in a statement.

Entertainment is scheduled to be provided by Mexica-Aztec Dance by Tlayolo, Mariachi Puente, David Campos of Zapato Viejo, Ballet Folklorico de Sacramento, and a community mural activity by Drucella Miranda of TANA.
In addition, the event will host a resource fair showcasing local and regional organizations. Groups will be available throughout the entirety of the event for information and conversation.

Also featured this year is an opening statement by members of the Davis City Council, a reading of the Farm Workers prayer by Rick Gonzales, Reflections of Chavez by Dr. Melissa Moreno and a presentation of the recently adopted resolution affirming “Yolo County as a Safe and Welcoming Community” by County Supervisors Don Saylor and Jim Provenza.
