City of Davis Looking to Fill Utility Commission and Unitrans Committee Vacancies

Davis is seeking applications from residents interested in serving on the Utility Rate Advisory Commission or Unitrans Advisory Committee.

DAVIS, CA -- The City of Davis is accepting applications from citizens, 18 years of age and older, interested in serving on the city's Utility Rate Advisory Commission or Unitrans Advisory Committee.

The Utility Rate Advisory Commission advises the City Council on the city's utility rates, assumptions and programs, rates policies, long and short term concerns, financing options, utility billing issues, regulatory compliance, and related utility matters as directed by the City Council.

The Commission also recommends adjustments to the city's utility rates after careful review of key information pertaining to the city's utility systems and infrastructure as required in the rate setting process.

The commission meets at 7 pm on the second Thursday of each month at 23 Russell Blvd., Davis.

The Unitrans Advisory Committee addresses Unitrans issues brought forward by residents, and reviews any proposed Unitrans route, schedule, and fare changes. The committee has one annual meeting each spring and is on-call as needed. The meeting location varies.

There's currently one vacancy each on the commission and committee.

City committees and commissions are a way to gather, analyze and recommend options to the Davis City Council. They also provide an avenue for determining the community’s feelings about issues and extending the reach of the democratic process.

Applications for the Utility Rate Advisory Commission and Unitrans Advisory Committee are available at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, located at 23 Russell Blvd., during regular business hours. They can also be downloaded at http://cityofdavis.org/city-hall/city-council/commissions-and-committees/apply-to-serve-on-a-city-commission.

Applications may be submitted, in person or via mail, to the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall (23 Russell Boulevard, Davis, CA 95616); or via e-mail to clerkweb@cityofdavis.org.

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 14.

In addition to the application form, commission applicants will participate in a 10-minute private interview with the Council subcommittee and city staff. Applications are scheduled to be submitted to City Council for appointment in April.
