City of Davis Seeking Project Partners For Annual Day of Service

The City of Davis and local community groups are hosting a one-day community day of service on Saturday, April 29.

DAVIS, CA -- All local non-profits are being invited to participate in a citywide event taking place next month as a part of a community day of service.

In conjunction with the City of Davis’ yearlong Centennial Celebration, the city and local community groups are hosting a one-day community day of service on Saturday, April 29, and are encouraging local non-profit groups to host a project.

Davis Community Day of Service has taken place for the past three years. The City of Davis, faith-based groups, service organizations, and other community groups have worked together to host the event. Last year close to 200 volunteers participated. In previous years, the majority of the projects have been focused on City property. In an effort to expand the scope of projects and get more people involved, the City is hoping that local non-profit organizations will become a project partner and invite their members and the public to join in.

To support projects, the City along with the Davis Community Day of Service Committee, will provide outreach, publicity, track outcomes, and host a Kick off Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Davis Police Officers Association.

Project partners will develop a project that will last about three hours, provide a sign up link or process for volunteer sign ups, communicate project details and instructions to volunteers, have an onsite project leader during the event and provide any materials necessary for the successful completion of the project.
