He was initially bailed out for $75,000, but prosecutors sought to have that raised to $500,000, calling him "an extreme danger to the community," according to the Sacramento Bee

"If he bails out, he will be supervised by probation, have to wear a SCRAM device (monitors alcohol intake) and be on GPS," Yolo Chief Deputy DA Jonathan Raven told Davis Patch via email Wednesday shortly after the hearing.

The defense attorney filed a 20-page motion opposing the bail increase, according to a tweet by Lauren Keene of the Davis Enterprise. It also included letters of support from Garzon's gay uncle, a neighbor and a friend.

Partida was left unconscious and bloodied after an altercation outside a house party early in the morning of March 10. Witnesses say the suspect repeatedly yelled gay slurs before the beating, which took place outside a party around 3 a.m.

Garzon also faces felony allegations for a stabbing in Dixon last year.
