Davis & Bike Theft: What's Wrong With People? (PHOTO)
We are a town defined by bikes, which means most of us have a story or two about our bikes being stolen. It's unfortunate.
The scene above greeted me when I left my apartment Thursday morning:
- The clipped lock in the foreground belongs to my neighbor.
- The vacant rack behind it is where he used to park his bike.
- The heavy chain behind the vacant space belongs to me, because my old bike was stolen last summer while my wife and I were away having a baby. So now I lug around a chain in hopes of deterring jerks.
I've got nothing to offer here in the way of a news story, except for the fact that the the bike-theft situation in this town is unfortunate.
