Davis Man Leads Police On High-Speed Chase Into Solano County

A Davis man went to jail this morning after leading police on a high-speed chase that began in Woodland and ended in Fairfield.  

The Woodland Police Department began chasing robbery suspect Teddy Chuang, 37, of Davis, at 9:30 a.m. The chase included the California Highway Patrol and made its way into Fairfield. 

Chuang fled authorities in a silver Honda Civic and had allegedly waved and pointed a handgun at police during the chase, according to police. 

Fairfield Police officers took over the chase when it left Highway 80 and entered Airbase Parkway. 

"Early into the pursuit an officer ineffectively deployed a spike strip device designed to incapacitate the suspect vehicle by deflating the tires," a Fairfield Police Department release stated. "Chuang eventually stopped his vehicle just short of the Travis Air Force Base Main Gate after encountering a military roadblock set up there."

Police alerted base officials about he chase, as a precaution that it would lead to the base. A short standoff ensued after which Chuang exited his vehicle on his own and walked towards the fenced campus of an elementary school located nearby, according to police.

Police tasered Chuang and later found him to be armed with a realistic airsoft pistol partially concealed in the rear of his waistband. Chuang was transported to Northbay Medical Center for medical clearance after which the Woodland Police Department would take custody of him.
