Junk 2 Genius: A Team Sculpture Competition that Supports the Environment (VIDEO)
This team sculpture competition supports the arts and the community's commitment to reduce, recycle and reuse.
"Don't miss out on this fun, high-energy team sculpture competition and your chance to support the arts, the community's commitment to reduce, recycle and reuse and promote your business!" wrote Elizabeth Ashwood on the Davis Patch Facebook page Thursday. "Sponsors have raced to sign their teams up early for the 4th annual Junk 2 Genius at the Davis Art Center on Sept 14. Only 6 team spots remain!"
You can learn more about the competition at this link and by reading the details below:
Join us for this FREE high-energy art event, in which teams of artisan gladiators compete for the coveted “Trophy du Trash” in a timed “sculpt-off” using recycled materials. Enjoy food, beer & wine for purchase, while you root on your favorite team and listen to great music.
HOW IT WORKS: Each team receives a box of similar items and races against the clock to create its own unique work of art. When the closing bell sounds, a panel of judges critiques the final green giants and names the winner of the "Trophy du Trash." Spectators vote on the People's Choice Award.
FOR THE KIDS: While the adults build their sculptures outside, kids ages 6-12 can have their own trash-to-treasure sculpture activity inside the Art Center. Or, stop by the rolling reCREATE truck, where visitors of all ages can create and take home a Junk 2 Genius masterpiece.
SPONSOR A TEAM: Give your business, school or other organization strong community visibility -- and a fun team-building activity for family, friends & employees -- while promoting our community’s commitment to reduce, reuse and recycle.
