Man Killed by Amtrak Train in Downtown Davis

The passenger train was pulling into the Depot.

A man was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Davis around 9:30 this morning. 

The passenger train, which was headed westbound through Davis, killed the man at the scene, according to Lt. Paul Doroshov of the Davis Police Department.

Several sources have described the man as being homeless, but that has not been confirmed. The Yolo County Coroner's Office and Amtrak PD are taking the lead from here, according to Doroshov.

The train, which was #533, was delayed after a "trespasser strike at the Davis station," according to Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari. "There were no injuries to passengers or crew." 

Passengers were transferred to the next westbound train, which was #535.
