Yolo County Deputy Tony Diaz was fatally shot near the Dunnigan rest area in June 2008 after a high-speed pursuit of a suspected drunk driver.
On Friday, the county honored Diaz's bravery by bestowing the rest area with his name.
The dedication was a collaboration between Assembly member Yamada and the Yolo County Sheriffās office to honor the bravery of Deputy Diaz. Yamada authored Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 14 that authorized the Yolo County Sheriffās Office and Caltrans to erect the two signs, which were paid for by private donations raised by Diazās family, friends and colleagues.
