Parole Denied for Man Convicted of Shooting 18-Year-Old Davis Man in the Head
The killing happened in 1978. Charles McNeill has has 13 parole hearings since.

A man who was convicted of killing an 18-year-old Davis man by shooting him in the forehead in 1978 was denied parole this week, according to Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig.Ā
This was 59-year-old Charles McNeill's 13th parole hearing for the death of Charles Muller, who was 18 when he died.Ā

In early 1979 a Yolo County judge sentenced McNeill to 17-years-to-life for the murder after a jury trial. At the hearing, both Commissioners agreed that McNeill would still pose a continued risk to public safety should he be released from prison. Commissioners told McNeill that his statements of remorse were āsuperficialā and ānot from the heart.ā

Kenneth Muller, the victimās brother and a Davis resident, spoke on behalf of the Muller family opposing release. Supervising Deputy District Attorney Garrett Hamilton represented the District Attorneyās Office at the hearing. Yolo County Sheriff Ed Prieto and District Attorney Jeff Reisig wrote letters in opposition to McNeillās release.
Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig stated that he is proud of the efforts of his Lifer Parole Division. āWe will continue to do everything we can to support the friends and family of Charles Muller who continue to endure this unimaginable pain. We will never forget Charles. That is the very least we can do for these families and all families who have survived similar tragedies.ā
McNeill will be eligible for parole again in three years.
