Prosecutors Seek Second-Degree Murder Charges in Fatal Second Street Accident

Steven Hendrix, 32, will be arraigned on second-degree murder charges tomorrow for the fatal crash on Second Street on February 24.

DAVIS: The driver accused of causing the accident that killed Davis resident Cynthia Jonasen on Wednesday will be seen in court again tomorrow; prosecutors are reportedly seeking a second-degree murder conviction, among others.

According to the Davis Enterprise, Steven Hendrix, 32, did not enter a plea at his arraignment hearing this past Friday; a public defender reportedly asked to have the hearing be postponed until tomorrow so that Hendrix’s attorney from a recent domestic violence case could be present.

The Enterprise reports that Hendrix’s bail was raised from $360,000 to a no-bail hold in light the murder charge and laundry list of prior convictions that include strangling his ex-girlfriend, child abuse, drug charges and more.
