San Jose Man Dies in Davis Skydiving Accident

Police said that the man was an experienced skydiver with more than 600 jumps.

A 23-year-old San Jose man died over the weekend in a tragic skydiving accident in Davis.Ā 

The man went to Sky Dance skydivingĀ on Saturday, Aug. 24, to do some skydiving. The man, whose name was not available as of this posting, somehow became detached from his gear while in the air and he fell to the ground below.Ā 

Police arrived at the Yolo County Airport Sky Dance facility and found the body of the deceased man approximately 1 miles southeast of the Sky Dance Drop Zone. His canopy and harness was also located 1 mile northeast of the drop zone.Ā

At this point in the investigation, it is unknown how the victim became detached from his skydiving gear, according to police.

Friends and fellow skydivers stated that victim was an experienced skydiver with more than 600 jumps. The man's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
