On March14, 2013 Yolo County Animal Services was advised by a citizen in Woodland who lives in the 1500 block of Owens Valley Drive that their cat “Annie” was shot with a pellet gun while they were away from their house on the evening of March 13, 2013. Upon the owner’s return they found “Annie” an Orange Domestic Shorthair Tabby lying on their front porch unable to use her back legs. Annie was then rushed to UC Davis Small Animal Clinic. There, an examination and x-rays determined that Annie had a pellet gun bullet lodged near her spine and was partially paralyzed. Annie was sent home with medication and pain reliever to attempt rehabilitation, but she eventually succumbed to her injury and passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013.
