Today In Davis: 'Ted The Titan' Blooms

The foul-smelling plant only blooms once every two years.

Many at the UC Davis Botanical Conservatory predicted that the Corpse Flower would bloom yesterday, but it wasn’t so.

The plant began emitting its pungent fleshy smell early in the day, but it didn’t reach full bloom by nightfall. So it appears “Ted” will be stinking up the joint in all his glory today, as seen in the time-lapse to the right. Make your way over to the conservatory if you're drawn to the smell of rotting flesh and hungry flies.

If that's not your idea of a good time, there's the starting at the Starbucks on Lyndell Terrace at 6 p.m. The 40-mile ride is aimed at improving your pack-riding skills.
