Today: Picnic in the Park with the Hucklebucks

Grab some kettle corn and some fresh squeezed apple juice, and then go hit the grass.

The Hucklebucks have plucked bits and pieces of their musical style from blues-music hubs all over the country. The music they play, however, is unmistakably “west coast.”

“[Our] music was born in the south, left New Orleans for Chicago, swung through Kansas City, shuffled through Texas and emerged on the California party scene with a groovy, danceable beat,” they say on their website. 

They’ll be delivering that danceable style tonight at , starting at 4:30 pm and going into the evening.

The band consists of Doug James, Robert Sidwell, Ty Smith, Jim Monroe and Dale Lyberger, all of whom are based out of Sacramento.

Over the years, they’ve played with the likes of John Lee Hooker and the Yardbirds. While playing more than 200 club shows a year, they are also available for private parties.
