3 Involved in 60W Accident, 1 Air Transport

A single-vehicle accident after the off-ramp of the westbound 60 freeway at Diamond Bar Boulevard hospitalized three people and left one dog dead at the scene.

Three people were involved in a single-car accident at the end of the Diamond Bar Boulevard offramp to the westbound 60 freeway Friday afternoon, with one transported by helicopter to a trauma center.

UPDATE, 5:30 p.m.

One person was in full arrest after the accident, according to L.A. County Fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson, and another was in critical condition. A total three people were in the car, Johnson said, along with a dog that was declared dead at the scene.

Witness Shiv Kalaria said he saw the aftermath of the crash as he was driving near Palomino Drive and called 911.

Kalaria said the car had apparently overshot the offramp and was on fire in the bushes across Diamond Bar Boulevard from the 60 westbound offramp, next to the park-and-ride at that intersection.

Kalaria said emergency responders were working to resuscitate one person at the scene. 

A helicopter landed at Lorbeer Middle School around 2 p.m. to transport the patient in full arrest to a nearby trauma center.

Further updates on the condition of the three injured in the accident was not available for this report.

Total Traffic LA reports that traffic is backed up on the westbound 60 from Diamond Bar Boulevard to Reservoir.

UPDATED, 3 p.m.: Traffic was blocked heading north on Diamond Bar Boulevard at the 60 onramp and was slow heading south.
