Man Killed In Walnut Crash Identified

The 68-year-old man was riding a mobility scooter in Walnut Sunday when he was fatally hit by a car, authorities said.

Authorities released the name Tuesday of a 68-year-old man who was fatally hit by a car in Walnut while he was riding a medical mobility scooter.

Edmund Saldivar was 68 years old when he died Sunday. An official cause of death has not been determined, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office. A city of residence was not listed for the man, officials said.

Saldivar was riding a mobility scooter near Amar Road and Country Hollow Drive when he was struck by a car around 4:35, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The driver told deputies he pulled over after realizing he hit something and discovered Saldivar on the ground.

He told deputies he was possibly blinded by the sun before the crash and didn't see Saldivar, officials said. The case remains under investigation.
