Truck Carrying Hydrogen Catches Fire In LA
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported the incident around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
DIAMOND BAR, CA -- A truck carrying hydrogen caught on fire Sunday in San Gabriel Valley, prompting officials to evacuate about 500 people as hazmat crews worked the scene.
The fiery incident was reported around 1:30 p.m. near the 21100 block of Golden Springs Drive in Diamond Bar, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Witnesses said the truck, which had about 20 tanks of hydrogen, exploded.
It's unclear how the HazMat team will handle the compressed hydrogen on board the truck, officials said.

The public was asked to avoid the area as it is dangerous, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
