Virtual Meetings May Come To An End For Walnut City Council
The Walnut City Council has been conducting its meetings virtually throughout the pandemic, but that may be coming to an end soon.

WALNUT, CA — The Walnut City Council may soon ditch the screens and return to in-person meetings after spending more than a year conducting business through Zoom.
The City Council will discuss the possibility of returning to in-person meetings again during its Wednesday meeting, according to a staff report.
City officials have been holding their meetings through teleconference since March 2020, after Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that required local municipalities to switch to virtual meetings in response to the pandemic. That order is set to expire Sept. 30, but officials have the option to return to in-person meetings ahead of the expiration, the report said.

Councilmembers could also opt for a hybrid format where city staff and the council will participate in person for the meetings, while the public would continue to attend virtually.
The City Council is set to meet Wednesday, at 7 p.m. The meeting can be streamed online through the city’s website.
