Walnut Voters Sign Off on Term Limits
Political novice Andrew Rodriguez was a surprise winner in the city council race. Two incumbents reclaimed their seats.

WALNUT, CA - The voters in Walnut overwhelming support limiting the term for city council members and a political novice was the surprise win in Tuesday night's elections, according to the unofficial results from the City Clerks's office.
The term-limit measure, which was put forth by the city council, had no serious objections and was passed with more than 88 percent of the votes, 1778 votes to 228. The measure limits the city council term to 12 years or three terms, whether consecutive or not.
Over in the city council races, as expected, incumbents Nancy Tragarz and Eric Ching both won. Tragarz with 2,358 votes and Ching with 1,896 votes.

The surprise of the night was political novice Andrew Rodriguez's win. The 23-year-old was a political science and public policy major who graduated from Rutgers University last year.
