Woman, 40, Struck, Killed Crossing Street in Pomona

The driver remained at the scene until authorities arrive. Alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the accident.

POMONA, CA - A woman was killed when she was struck by a car in a Pomona roadway, authorities said Monday.

It happened on Reservoir Street north of Phillips Boulevard at 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Pomona police Sgt. William Tucker said.

A Nissan Altima was southbound on Reservoir Street when it struck a pedestrian in the road, according to Tucker.

"It is undetermined whether the pedestrian was crossing or merely walking within traffic lanes," Tucker said.

The woman -- believed about 40 years old -- was pronounced dead at the scene, Tucker said.

The driver was a Chino resident who showed no signs of intoxication, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, the sergeant said.

Reservoir Street was closed between Phillips Boulevard and Grand Avenue for several hours during the investigation, but was reopened about 2:30 a.m.
