SOLANO COUNTY β The Solano Adult Drug Court partners, Superior Court, Probation Department, District Attorneyβs Office, Public Defenderβs Office, Health and Social Services Department and Sheriffβs Office, are pleased to announce the fifth Adult Drug Court graduation ceremony, which will occur June 10, 2011, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Hall of Justice in Department 14 with the Honorable Garry Ichikawa presiding.
Five participants who have successfully completed the Adult Drug Court program will be recognized for their hard work and achievements. The Adult Drug Court collaboration keeps people in treatment, which is key to their success. Because Solanoβs Drug Court provides an alternative for drug offenders who would otherwise be facing a prison commitment, each success story represents savings of more than $30,000.Β
βWe save lots of money by treating drug addiction, but the real benefit to the community is the return of a productive person,β stated Judge Ichikawa. βThe citizens of Solano County should be proud of their County Government for working so hard to make this happen. Come celebrate with us. Drug Courts work.β

The Solano Adult Drug Court program was established in December 2007 with funding received by a California State Comprehensive Drug Court Implementation grant.Β The 18-month program provides intensive treatment and supervision services to non-violent drug offenders.
The Adult Drug Court is a current recipient of a federal enhancement grant which has expanded services to include providing mental health treatment. Participants in the program are offered a clear choice: participate in treatment instead of going to jail or state prison.Β In exchange for successful completion of the treatment program, the Court may dismiss the original charge, terminate probation early or reduce a felony to a misdemeanor charge.
