Details Disclosed of ‘Getting good press’

“Now” works out to be a very good time for business owners and organizations to get good newspaper coverage as the industry erases more reporters from their payroll says Debra Dingman who will offer a morning class on ‘Promoting Your Business’ in Dixon Friday, Sept. 16.

“Editors are usually happy to print well-written, newsworthy, press releases for their readers,” said the journalist who served as an editor, reporter, and columnist for local newspapers for 10 years and as a columnist for nationally distributed ‘Family Magazine.’

Participants are encouraged to bring their business information and enjoy refreshments while they learn how they can grow their business or organization through public relations--learning how to identify news within their businesses or organizations, writing an effective press release, and learning to “blog your best in 30 seconds or less.”

Dingman owns her own public relations business and has used journalism skills to grow businesses and non-profit organizations in Solano and Yolo Counties for 25 years.

She is a regular contirbutor to the  and continues to free-lance for numerous publications (including Dixon Patch) in the area and Sacramento.

She started her newspaper career at the Daily Republic in Fairfield after earning her AA in Journalism from Solano Community College and a Bachelors Degree in communications from California State University Sacramento.

She has won several awards for her writing including an outstanding journalism student award from the California Newspaper Association.
