Nature Walk at Lake Solano Planned for Saturday

SOLANO COUNTY – Join a free, guided nature walk at Lake Solano Park on Saturday, June 11 from 10am to noon.Β  It’s sure to be a fun and educational experience for all ages! Β Guided tours of Lake Solano Park are offered throughout the summer and fall from 10am to noon on the second Saturdays and fourth Sundays of each month.

Lake Solano volunteer Frank Morris will lead this short, easy-paced tour. Β Morris is a water expert who will bring the lake to life with an interactive display of its fascinating plants, insects, and other creatures. He’ll pass around magnifying lenses so that participants can observe the colors, shapes and movements of Lake Solano’s aquatic life in exquisite detail.

The group will explore the forest that borders the lake, and discuss the summer-time plants and animals that call this habitat home.Β  In addition to this natural history, participants will reflect on how the water and forest were important to early Native American ways of life, and how our modern towns and cities depend on these same resources.
