Vaccine Clinic at CA Jacobs Middle School Will Offer Required Whooping Cough Shot

A vaccine clinic will be held Thursday, May 26 at from 3-6 p.m.

The Tdap vaccine (also known as the whooping cough shot) will be offered free of charge.Β  This vaccine is required for any student entering 7th through 12th grade.

Β A new state law will not allow any 7th through 12th grade student to be admitted to school for the 2011-2012 school year without providing proof that they have received the Tdap vaccine.Β

is asking that parents bring shot records in to the school office as soon as their student has received Tdap, in order to allow time for processing and to remove as many students as possible from the exclusion list.Β  Students will be excluded on the first day of school in August if they have not provided proof.

Students must be accompanied to the clinic by a parent or guardian and bring their shot record.

The clinic is offered in cooperation with Solano County Public Health and is open to uninsured students, those with MediCal or Healthy Families insurance and those whose insurance does not cover the cost of the Tdap vaccine.
