Dixon High Swimmers Dominate GEL Swim Championships

Rams are known for roaming hilly terrains, but when it comes to the Dixon High School, they also take to the water.

Rams' swimmer dominated during the Golden Empire League Swim Championships held Saturday at Pat Granucci Aquatics Center.

Overall the Rams -- both girls and boys -- scored 1344, earning them a first-place victory among eight schools. Bradshaw Christian High School's boys and girls teams scored next best at 640, and third place went to West Campus High School with 571.

"Our boys and girls performed extremely well, with about 98 percent of our swimmers achieving best times," DHS Swim Coach Adrienne Anderson said. "(Coach) Gabe and I are so proud of the way they swam on Saturday. There were some close races, and each time our swimmers dug deep to pull out a win. Out of 22 events, Dixon won 15 of them. We have an exceptional group of young men and women on this team who work hard, and in the end it always pays off.

Coach Anderson said the next step in the season is the Sac-Joaquin Section meet at Tokay High School in Lodi May 10, 11 and 12.

Advancing to this meet will be 12 swimmers :Jadia Aikens, Gina Garcia, Austin Anderson, Nate Anderson, Bryan Poole, Jacob Smith, Zachary Shulman, Armando Moyyad, James Mayoral, Alex LaBass, Alex Gonzalez and Channing Madden.
